About the Ireland Fellows Programme

The Ireland Fellows Programme is a strategic initiative led by the Irish Government to develop global partnerships and strengthen in-country capacity through high-quality education. The programme specifically targets early to mid-career professionals who exhibit strong leadership potential and are committed to contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their home nations.

Participants are provided with the opportunity to undertake a fully funded master’s degree at a recognized higher education institution (HEI) in Ireland. This initiative not only supports academic advancement but also aims to cultivate a generation of future leaders who are well-equipped to foster socio-economic development and build lasting connections with Ireland.

Goals of the Programme

The core objectives of the Ireland Fellows Programme are threefold:

1. To Promote Leadership and Development: By supporting emerging professionals in their academic and career advancement, the programme nurtures individuals who can take on leadership roles in public service, civil society, and industry upon their return home.

2. To Contribute to National Capacity Building: The programme supports human resource development that is aligned with each participating country’s development priorities and national SDG targets.

3. To Strengthen International Partnerships: Through academic collaboration and interpersonal engagement, the initiative fosters meaningful long-term relationships between Ireland and participating countries.

Graduates of the programme are expected to become ambassadors of goodwill and influence in their respective nations, using their newly acquired skills and global exposure to contribute meaningfully to national development.
